The Anime Trixster God; Cowboy Bebop PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 23 September 2005

Cowboy bebop is undoubtedly the best to anime to come forth in the
past years, I first saw this anime the first 4 episodes at least at the
last Katsucon. It was and still is the ONLY new good anime I saw at K2000,
But that's another story. This anime is flashy, sharp and fast paced. The
styles are very reminiscent of Gunsmith Cats or Riding Bean. The accents
in this anime are on the Gear and the Fighting. All shots of the
spaceships are slow and detailed and all of the fighting shots are smooth
and direct.

Spike and Jet are Bounty Hunters, Rather self explanatory
situation, They hunt down Bounties and then they should get paid. However
whether it be fate or ill luck, Spike seems to always loose the money he
may "get" the man. He just never ropes in the cash. What makes this movie
that much more amusing for me is the way spike goes about his hunt. Almost
lazy ambivalent feel to it, He kind of shares intensity with Fist Of The
North Star but with the dedication of Saber Marionettes. Spike slow struts
into fight after fight in these episodes, Never slipping of failing to
land a punch invariably he does take a punch or too but it seems like he
means for that to happen. Sitting in an Indians hut in the episode "Bloody
Eye" smoking a peace pipe he seems more like a Coyote Trickster God than
an anime character. Spike has another problem with getting something,
Women just as with the Booty everything always seems to be going well for
Spike and then all of a sudden, Poof his romantic hopefuls disappear. That
aside spike is a really cool cat. His fighting style it self seems of be a
lil' shadowboxing and a dash of drunken master style. In Stray Dog Strut
you see him go against a potential enemy that goes toe to toe with spike,
after throwing a few punches spike nonchalantly says, "Pretty Good". This
reminds me of a Kung Fu Western. The best fighting I have seen in Cowboy
Bebop would be in "Bloody Eye" he fights his bounty a freaking crazed drug
addict caused Asimov, Spike fights with all the style and ease of a baby
falling down. It looks like he just stumbles through his punches finding
the hits when he needs to and just relaxing when he doesn't need to hit.
Realistic fighting that does not stop. His styles are tru and the combat
is fast.

Fighting in this is Awesome, Character developments are awesome
and as if that wasn't enough there is one more aspect of this movie. That
makes it shine like no other. The music in this anime is fantastic. We saw
music begin to play a big part of anime  in Eva and then in Lain and Bebop
keeps it up. The tracks are awesome and the music never overpowers the
scenes it just adds to them. With high energy and emotion this is just an
awesome movie.

Buy this movie from Another Universe today. I always say I can see
a good thing coming and as far as currant anime goes this is one of the
best check it out. It wins on all levels. Really check this one out if you
enjoy the loner style of fighting and inside humour in an anime. Easily
will become one of your favorites if you enjoyed Gunsmith Cats, Riding
Bean, Tank Police, Dirty Pair, City Hunter or Crying Freeman. I know that
is a broad statement but this anime fuffills all the requirements for a
perfect Action Anime
