The finest historical anime samurai movie
ever. This movie defines how samurai action movies are rated everything is
judges against the seriously high standards that this movie set. Ninja Scroll
or Jubei Ninpacho (the adventures of Jubei) is one of the finest examples of
anime with razor sharp action and animation. The director Yoshiaki Kawajiri
attained the loftiest of goals by putting together this seamless movie. Most
likely one of the most famous anime movies of all time.
Ninja
Scroll his story takes place during the Tokugawa era (1600-1867). Ninja Scroll
takes place in Feudilistic Japan and is the story of a wandering warrior named
Jubei a ronin who is a master of the sword.
His smooth action and tact is demonstrated in the first 30 seconds of
the movie as some robbers blindly jump him. He dispatches them with almost no
thought, and the ronin continues on. Along the way he meets Kagero who was a
member of a ninja team called The Koga all were killed by a demonic force
beyond there control that literally ripped her entire team limb from limb,
raining blood on the grass like a spring thunderstorm. This evil is the devils
of Kimon. Each devil has a power and ability more horrific than the one before.
Jubei is a force to be dealt with however he takes as much damage as you would
expect on man that is battling the
forces of evil as hideous as the devils of Kimon. Kagero and Jubei join forces
and eventually are reluctantly hired by a government spy named Dakuwan. When I
am 154 years old I want to be Dakuwan. The true nature of the devils of Kimon
is not discovered till the end of his fantastic rollercoaster ride of an anime.
Not even one second of this movie disappoints. Every scene is perfectly
rendered and every character holds his own whether good or evil all of them are
inspiring. Jubei is easily the coolest of heroes as he dispenses of the devils,
keeps romance with Kagero and pacifies Dakuwan, all the time staying on step
ahead of the next swing of the Katana. Blood, Violence, Surreal Enemies and
Fantastic plot twists. Every aspect of this intense action movie will surprise
anyone who hasn’t seen it.
When
you have seen this movie you have had one of the greatest anime experiences
ever. This movie leaves you feeling invincible and inspired. The action and the
drama go hand in hand to leave you spellbound and amazed at the accuracy that
is attained by the action in this movie. Every style, stance and attack are
perfectly times to maintain the realism in this the most unrealistic of samurai
movies. A most def must see. SEE THIS MOVIE!!!
